Abstract
In the present communication a new relation has been found for experimental data on volume expansion ratio at 1 bar pressure and temperatures above the Debye temperature. The analysis performed in the present study is based on the thermodynamic and thermoelastic data reported in a compilation by Anderson. The analysis is presented for ionic solids, viz. NaCl, KCl, MgO and CaO. The superiority over a number of models is shown by computing volume expansion ratio and isothermal bulk modulus as a function of temperature. The present approach may contribute to the understanding of the high-temperature behavior of ionic solids.
