Abstract
In the present communication a new relation has been found for experimental data on volume expansion ratio at 1Â bar pressure and temperatures above the Debye temperature. The analysis performed in the present study is based on the thermodynamic and thermoelastic data reported in a compilation by Anderson. The analysis is presented for ionic solids, viz. NaCl, KCl, MgO and CaO. The superiority over a number of models is shown by computing volume expansion ratio and isothermal bulk modulus as a function of temperature. The present approach may contribute to the understanding of the high-temperature behavior of ionic solids.
