Abstract
We report the discovery of a superconductor YGe3. Static magnetic susceptibility measurements show that the transition temperature Tc = 1.9-2.1 K (10-90% values). The zero resistivity temperature is attained below 2.2 K. Powder X-ray diffraction patterns indicate that this compound has the orthorhombic DyGe3-type structure with space group Cmcm. A refinement of the lattice parameters of the unit cell, determined by the method of least squares using the fifteen intense reflections for 2θ < 60°, reveals that the lattice parameters a = 4.0497(1) Ã
, b = 20.801(1) Ã
and c = 3.9174(1) Ã
for the compound YGe3.
