Abstract
The expressions are derived for the single-particle tunneling currents of normal metal/insulator/cuprate associated with the d-p model. It is suggested that the physics in the tunneling experiments goes beyond a single-band model because the two electronic components exist in the cuprate compound. Some applications, such as studying the in-gap states and some electronic devices, of the tunneling current expressions are suggested.
