Abstract
The space optical detectors of ultra-high-energy cosmic rays, aimed for detection of the fluorescence light radiated by the EAS particle disc, may also register the Cherenkov light scattered in the atmosphere and diffused by the clouds, ground or sea. The diffused Cherenkov signal gives the reference height in the atmosphere needed for the measurement of the EAS maximum position.
