Abstract
There are several factors that could potentially limit the lifetime of the CDF silicon detectors currently in operation. Radiation concerns for the detectors include the robustness of the individual silicon sensors used and the signal to noise of the detector as a whole. We address signal and noise separately and make an overall prediction of the lifetime of the detector, and assess the impact of radiation damage on the b-tagging algorithm currently in use for high pT physics.
