Abstract
We report the results of a study of the response of a Pierre Auger water tank to electrons of a few MeV of kinetic energy and to muons of GeV energy. This study helps us understand the response of the Auger surface detector to the electromagnetic component of cosmic ray showers. The results of this study are compared to a simple model.
