Abstract
Optical absorption induced by photon radiation was evaluated for several commercial pure silica core, single mode, optical fibres. The study was performed for three different wavelengths: 630, 670 and 785Â nm. We have identified a fibre whose induced transmission loss stays below 1Â dB/m after 300Â kGy gamma-ray irradiation.
