Abstract
Defect formation in BaF2 single crystals doped with cadmium is investigated by optical absorption, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and thermoluminescence. An optical absorption band observed in X-irradiated at 295Â K crystals CaF2 (at 3.8Â eV), SrF2 (at 3.95Â eV) and BaF2 (at 4.08Â eV) is assigned to absorption of Cd+-ions. In addition, two type hole centers: pure Vk and perturbed Vk-centers, are observed in BaF2-1%CdF2 crystals X-irradiated at 77Â K.
