Abstract
The photoproduction of the Ï meson on the nucleon is studied near threshold using the GRAAL data on liquid hydrogen and deuterium targets. The cross section and the beam asymmetry on the proton target are extracted and interpreted within a quark model approach. Near threshold, the excitation of resonances and in particular of two poorly known ones is sizeable. On a neutron target a preliminary analysis is shown.
