Abstract
Existence of non-breathing compacton-like modes considered to be a good candidate for open states in DNA is shown by numerical calculations. This is done by employing an extended version of a coupled sine-plus-linear-lattice model to take care of its helical structure in which the effect of hindered rotation is included in on-site potential energy.
