Abstract
Compared to glass tubes, plastic tubes for blood collection in order to perform coagulation assays showed better security and practicability. Moreover, those plastic tubes contained sodium citrate at concentration of 0.105-0.109Â M (3.2%), which is recommanded by the Hemostasis Societies for better quality of results. Unfortunately we still lack information about their analytical reliability. The aims of this study were: first, to compare, in our current laboratory practice, coagulation analyses carried out on blood collected in siliconized glass tubes with citrate concentration of 3.8%-Venoject®, Terumo- and in polyethylene terephtalate ones with citrate concentration of 3.2%-Venosafe®, Terumo-, and secondly to determine reference values of coagulation factors with those plastic tubes.
