Abstract
Even one cigarette can induce more protracted and more severe left ventricular diastolic dysfunction in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus than in healthy volunteers. Our results have clinically relevant implications in the current era of increasing recognition of the diabetes epidemic and of the associated cardiovascular risks.
