The extent of postinfarction remodeling is determined on the basis of infarct size and location. The development of ischemic mitral regurgitation might not contribute significantly to adverse remodeling. Ischemic mitral regurgitation is likely a manifestation rather than an important impetus for postinfarction remodeling.
