Abstract
In recent years, researchers have been paying more and more attention to the issue of the management of people in Africa. Some of this work has focused on the more readily evident problems like motivation, leadership, conflict management and teamwork. The purpose of this special issue is to paint a much broader canvas and to extend the debate on a wider range of issues in order to better capture the complexity of managing people in a diverse context that is attracting the attention of investors who see Africa as the last great frontier, albeit one that they barely understand. The papers in this issue will hopefully generate a robust debate into the challenges and opportunities of managing people in Africa.
