Escuelas de negocios latinoamericanas Un análisis empírico

ResumenEste trabajo utiliza datos de 2009 a 2011 sobre una muestra de escuelas de negocios de América Latina con el objetivo de identificar los determinantes organizacionales del éxito de los graduados de tales escuelas. Para ello la metodología empleada es un análisis de regresión múltiple de datos de panel con efectos aleatorios. Los resultados indican que el nivel de producción académica de las escuelas, el cual se obtuvo del número de artículos en publicaciones indexadas en el Social Science Citation Index, está asociado en forma positiva y estadísticamente significativa con el éxito de sus egresados. Además, la calidad de la planta docente también tiene un efecto positivo y significativo sobre dicha variable, aunque este último hallazgo no es robusto de acuerdo con las distintas especificaciones de los modelos de regresión.

Drawing on recent available data of a sample of Latin American business schools, this paper aims at identifying the organizational determinants of the students’ success in their post-MBA professional work. These relationships are tested through multiple regressions using panel data with random effects. The main finding is that the level of scholarly knowledge production, operationalized as number of articles published in journals indexed in the Social Science Citation Index, is in a positive and statistically significant way associated with the alumni’s success. The quality of the faculty has also a positive and significant effect upon the dependent variable, although this result is not robust as per different model specifications.
