Abstract

•Thirty-seven journals in Hospitality, Leisure, Sport & Tourism were clustered.•Five clusters (subfields) are identified based on bibliographic coupling similarity.•The differences and similarities among them are resolved to gain more insights.•Tourism and Hospitality journals form two close but distinct subfields.•A periodic analysis would reveal the shift of the knowledge bases of the subfields.
