Abstract
100Ethanolic and aqueous extracts of coconut kernels were composed of phenolic compounds exhibiting antioxidant activities as determined using DPPH and FRAP methods. An aqueous extract (TC06) was selected for the topical preparation of a hydroalcoholic gel due to its nontoxicity, water solubility, and chemical constituents. The hydroalcoholic gel composed of TC06 extract, Carbopol Ultrez 21, ethanol, and triethanolamine appeared to be a suitable formulation due to its physicochemical characteristics and stability.
