Abstract
70 years ago Janusz Korczak (Dr. Henryk Goldszmit) died in a gas chamber of Treblinka. He was a pediatrician, teacher and writer. As a young man he resigned from raising his own family and devoted himself to education and care for orphaned children. He did not leave them until the end. In 2011, the Polish Parliament proclaimed 2012 the Year of Janusz Korczak. This year marks also the hundredth anniversary of the establishment in Warsaw 'House of Orphans', which was led by Dr. Janusz Korczak.
