Abstract
												The results indicate that the biggest costs are generated by hospitalization and diagnostics. Increased expenditure in preventive treatment and asthma education programmes may help to improve illness control and reduce the frequency and severity of exacerbations with subsequent improvement in patient quality of life and a potential financial benefit to the health service.
