Abstract
In the analyzed 20-years period, among 192,438 live born children there were registered 3,241 children with congenital malformations, giving the total prevalence of 168.4:10,000 live births: 153.1 in ZGP and 182.3 in LP (the difference is statistically significant). In both provinces between 1988-2007 the most frequent groups of congenital malformations (per 10,000 live births) were: congenital heart defects (55.0), musculoskeletal system defects (46.8), nervous system defects (17.9). Defects of genital and urinary systems counted together (28.8) would take the 3rd place.
