Abstract
Streptococcus pneumoniae is one of the leading cause of bacterial neuroinfectios in childhood. Pneumococcal meningitis is still connected with mortality and leads to serious neurological complications. High invasion of Str pneumoniae, a lot of serotypes and increasing resistance to antibiotics are big terapeutic problems.We describe 4,5-year-old boy which was admitted to Pediatrics Word in Bielsko-BiaÅa with meningitis and encephalitis caused by complications of otitis. The empiric taken treatment needed intensifi cation because of increasing antibiotics resistance during therapy.
