Abstract
Idiopathic nephrotic syndrome (INS) seems to be the most common glomerulopathy in children. The histopathology of INS comprises minimal change nephrotic syndrome (MCNS), mesangio-proliferative glomerulonephritis (MesPGN) and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). Most children with INS have MCNS and present good response to steroids. FSGS is rare in childhood nephrosis, usually connected with steroid resistance. In recent years it has been noticed that the frequency of FSGS as well as steroid resistance in childhood INS is increasing. It may have a significant impact on clinical approach.
