Abstract
The cough and the hoarseness are the reasons for frequent pediatrics appointments. A short interview suggests bacterial or viral infection of the respiratory system. A good interview, physical examination and additional examinations are important consideration in making the right diagnosis. We describe a 16-year-old female patient who was admitted to Pediatrics Ward in Bielsko-BiaÅa with atypical symptoms of tuberculosis. The girl had inflammation of the throat three weeks ago. Since then she has complained of a dry cough and hoarseness. Additionally she has had swallowing problems, loss of weight about 3 kg. An x-ray of the chest and tuberculin test showed tuberculosis. The patient was sent to the Institute of the Lungs Diseases in Rabka. Tuberculosis should be taken into consideration in differential diagnosis of the respiratory system diseases in children. Little and non characteristic symptoms can accompany advanced changes in lungs and respiratory tract. They can lead to deficiency of the normal lungs function.
