Abstract
Chronic abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, and eating disorders are common causes of children reporting to a doctor. Despite many studies the causes of these problems have not been established and a diagnosis of functional abdominal pain is usually given. Fructose malabsorption is a disease entity in which there are such symptoms but has been, however, neglected in the literature as well as pediatric practice. Such a diagnosis may be made on a clinical picture and positive hydrogen breath test after an oral loading of fructose. Proper diet is an effective way of treatment in such. This paper describes two children who were diagnosed with fructose malapsorption.
