Abstract
Diagnosis of the tuberculosis in children is very difficult because of the atypical course of the disease and problem with bacteriological confirmation which is possibile in approximatly 30% of patients. Despite these limitations Tuberculin Skin Test (TST) remains the main tool in the diagnosis of latent tuberculosis infection. Recently Interferon Gamma Release Assays have become available as noninvasive diagnostics methods. These assays are based on the measurement of IFNg release from sensitized T-cell after antygen-specific stimulation. They are considered to be more specific then TST. There is still only limited data in children available in order to reliably assess its applicability in routine diagnostics use.
