Abstract
We present the first in the Polish literature case of capillary haemangioma diagnosed prenatally based on US. The pregnant woman was referred to our tertiary center in Lodz (obstetrical/pediatric research institute), because of the tumor of the left thigh of the fetus, found at 34th week of pregnancy in routine obstetrical US examination. The obstetrician suggested the presence of sacro-coccygeal teratoma. In the examination in our centre the presence of different type of tumor was established (“elephantiasis of the left leg”). In the differential diagnosis we considered lymphangioma. Because of the progression of the tumor, no other imaging procedures were performed, and the baby was delivered at 37 weeks of gestation by the cesarean section. The postnatal US examination revealed the capillary hemangioma of the left leg. The baby was transferred to the Oncological Department of Child's Health Center in Warsaw, however despite of the treatment she died at the age of 3 months.
