Abstract
In this study, the influence of absorptive capacity on the decisions about technological acquisitions is analyzed on the basis of the impact on the firm performance. Such relationships are studied over a sample of 250 Spanish engineering consulting firms. The results obtained show that the degree of absorptive capacity influences positively both external and internal acquisition types of technology. Both technological decisions types influence organizational performance significantly and positive even though evidence shows a significant and negative relation between these decisions.
