Abstract
Using a four-stage technology venture model, this study attempts to understand the relationship among opportunity, embeddedness, endogenous resources, and performance during technology venturing. The aim of this study is to link resource-based considerations with technology venture theory to help explain the effects of venturing resource. To help clarify venture performance, this study employs a structural equation model (SEM) to explain the relationships among opportunity, embeddedness, endogenous resources, and performance. Our analytical results imply that embeddedness at the firm level does not significantly affect a firm's success. Implications for both research and practice are discussed herein.
