Abstract
A refractive-index sensitivity-enhanced sensor based on triple cladding quartz specialty fiber is proposed. The sensor is fabricated by core-offset splicing between the triple cladding quartz specialty fiber and single-mode fiber. The relationship between the core-offset and the transmission loss spectrum is studied in the sensor preparation. The refractive-index experiments are performed in different core-offset. The experimental results show that the refractive-index sensitivity can be up to 543.7527â¯nm/RIU when the core-offset is 11.2â¯Âµm. Thus, this proposed sensor can be used in many areas, such as industrial production, biological medicine, precision machining and so on.
