Abstract
⺠Our knowledge of fundamental metal functions in biology is limited. ⺠Metalloproteins modify and expand metal functions in cells. ⺠Computational approaches are inadequate for identifying metalloproteins. ⺠Structural and spectroscopic characterizations are precise but limited in scope or accuracy. ⺠New mass spectrometry approaches allow for accurate characterization of metalloproteomes.
