Abstract
⺠Microscale nanoporous and nanoscale compartments inspired by natural systems are reviewed. ⺠Hybrid nanocompartments developed through the combination of organic and inorganic synthesis techniques are emerging. ⺠Higher order assemblies, combining microscale and nanoscale compartments will provide the basis of systems exhibiting greater functionality in the future.
