Abstract
► Enzymatic two-step synthesis from cyclohexanol to ɛ-caprolactone established. ► Polyol dehydrogenase and Baeyer-Villiger monooxygenase functionally expressed in E. coli and isolated enzymes used for ɛ-caprolactone synthesis. ► Self sufficient cofactor regeneration achieved by internal recycling. ► Both enzymes successfully immobilized. ► Highly pure ɛ-caprolactone obtained by simple isolation.
