Abstract
- Fungal degradation of carbofuran was assessed using rice husk as a substrate.
- Carbofuran is degraded (55.1%) and slowly mineralized in the microcosm.
- The toxic 3-hydroxycarbofuran is produced and further eliminated in the process.
- Toxicity decreased by 89% after 34 days.
- Bioaugmented rice husk is a suitable lignocellulosic substrate for biopurification systems.
