Methanol vapor biofiltration coupled with continuous production of recombinant endochitinase Ech42 by Pichia Pastoris

► Maximum EC of methanol of 1320 g m−3 h−1 was obtained. ► Ech42 was produced with a chitinase enzymatic activity of 125 U L−1. ► The majority (99%) of Ech42 produced was excreted to the culture medium. ► P. pastoris is a robust microorganism to produce Ech42 and to biodegrade methanol. ► The linking of Ech42 to methanol biofiltration could be economically feasible.
