Abstract
⺠Xylitol can be efficiently biosynthesized using Debaryomyces hansenii immobilized in polymer matrices. ⺠Electron micrographs reveal the generation of dense biofilms with hyphal morphology on beads surface. ⺠Corncobs hydrolyzates and vinasses can be used as feedstock for xylitol production. ⺠Microaerobical conditions enhanced the formation of xylitol.
