► This method of nanoparticles synthesis is advantageous over other biobased protocols. ► Characterization studies highly supported the formation of silver nanoparticles. ► Due to high toxicity of silver nitrate at 100 ppm plant germination was very much affected. ► Interestingly, silver nanoparticles treated plant showed no toxic effects at higher concentration.
