Abstract
A new group of RuNi catalysts on carbon black XC 72 for ethanol electrooxidation in alkaline electrolytes has been synthesized. According to the structural research data, the catalysts consist of dispersed metallic ruthenium decorated by nickel oxides. The catalyst with the optimum composition contains RuNi with the ratio of 70:30. The difference in ethanol oxidation kinetics and the character of its adsorption at the catalysts of different composition evidence the change of ruthenium properties in RuNi, as compared to pure supported ruthenium.
