Abstract
To develop portable direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs) with high power density, a high concentration of methanol in aqueous solution must be used as the fuel. We have developed a new type of membrane, namely the pore-filling membrane, and its membrane-electrode assembly (MEA) gives high DMFC performance with high concentration methanol fuel (around 10Â M). The results were compared with a commercial Nafion membrane MEA.
