Modeling the slag layer in solid fuel gasification and combustion - Formulation and sensitivity analysis

► In this study we model the multiphase slag layer in a reactor. ► The model considers slag flow and heat characteristics, and particle capture. ► The model predicts the slag thickness, velocity, the temperature distribution. ► The model is tested with inputs from a CFD simulation of a pilot-scale combustor. ► Particle momentum transfer, particle capture, and slag properties are important.
