Abstract
⺠Furnace models based on the zone method for radiation calculation are described. ⺠Validated steady-state and transient models have been developed. ⺠We show how these simple models can identify the best options for saving energy. ⺠High emissivity coatings predicted to give performance enhancement on a fired heater. ⺠Optimal heat recovery strategies on a steel reheating furnace are predicted.
