Abstract
Although current fMRI literature is still insufficient to draw decisive conclusions, results point towards functionally altered pathways for language in schizophrenia. This notion is also plausible from the viewpoint of psychopathology especially since hallmark symptoms of the disease, thought disorder, auditory verbal hallucinations and alogia, are expressed in terms of language or represent abnormalities of language function.
