Abstract
⺠The veracity of child witness testimony is central to the justice system. ⺠Young children understand lying is morally wrong and do not condone most lies. ⺠Children's ability to lie effectively related to their cognitive development. ⺠Social and motivational factors affect children's honesty. ⺠Different methods of promoting children's truthful reports are discussed.
