► The level of executive functioning is inversely related to the severity of homework difficulties. ► In particular planning plays an important role in the severity of homework difficulties. ► Parents rated students with ASD as having more homework difficulties than students without ASD. ► Students without ASD had better executive functioning skills than students with ASD. ► Students rated themselves as having less difficulties than their parents rated them.
