Abstract
- I respond to Paley's critique by seeking areas where we may agree, even in principle
- I challenge some of his misunderstandings and assertions about my own position and other key issues in the debate
- I highlight again the unrealistic futility of a mock 'person-situation' battle
- Taking the Kirkup Report as a further example, I suggest that Paley's response to 'hospital scandals' is woefully inadequate
- I return the debate to nurse education and the key question of 'What kind of nurses do we want to create and shape?
