Event-driven architecture for decision support in traffic management systems

► Event-driven architectures (EDA) can be applied on decision support systems. ► A hierarchy of event types reflects the decision process that is a sequence of event processing steps. ► With Complex Event Processing (CEP) continuous streams of sensor data can be processed in real-time. ► We present a distributed reference architecture defining different event processing agents. ► A case study of a road traffic management system in Bilbao shows the usefulness of the approach.
