Abstract
In this paper a new circuit model for calculating noises in optical components, which are used in optical communication, is presented. By using the model that utilizes electrical parameters instead of optical components one can calculate noise in each component and finally obtain noise in an optical link. We consider a simple optical link including a laser diode, a detector, and the effect of other components such as optical fiber. The circuit is obtained for each part by specific equations for that component and then we connect these parts together and extract some common parameters for noise. In the end of circuit we calculate noise considering the effect of the previous stage noises.
