Abstract
This paper presents a soft glass spiral photonic crystal fiber (S-PCF) for tailoring two zero dispersion wavelengths (ZDWs) in the visible and near infrared region. A full-vector finite-element method with perfectly matched boundary layer is used to characterize the properties of the S-PCF. The designed fiber has two ZDWs at 700 nm and 1050 nm along with a very high nonlinearity of 7326 W−1 K m−1 at 700 nm and 3919 W−1 K m−1 at 1050 nm. Optimizing the cladding parameters the proposed S-PCF offers high birefringence of 0.09 at the excitation wavelength at λ = 1550 nm. Moreover, the proposed S-PCF has identical circular air-holes in the cladding that simplify the fabrication process.
