Abstract
DTNNM is a software application written in C++ which implements the Delaunay triangulation nearest neighbour method of strain analysis. The software calculates the Delaunay triangulation and the best fit strain ellipse using a multiple linear least-squares regression method and supports data normalisation, enhancement and error analysis. Because part of the analysis involves tracking the variation of error as the selection factor (sf) varies, analytical expressions for the confidence intervals associated with strain ellipse parameters (axial ratio Rs and orientation Ïs) is derived. The software is tested using a set of data obtained from a naturally deformed ironstone oolite.
