Abstract
⺠We uncover effects of knowledge and model semantics on user syntax comprehension. ⺠Modeling of additional semantic information impedes understanding of model syntax. ⺠Theoretical knowledge eases syntax comprehension. ⺠Modeling experience increases comprehension efficiency. ⺠The findings inform process modeling training decisions and workflow verification.
