Abstract
Multimedia models are generally used in regional, continental and global scale to study transport and persistence of pollutants. The mass balance equation considers input into a box, output from box, or transport by means of advection or diffusion to and from other boxes. Degradation, leaching, burial (adsorption/absorption or sediments) are the main removal processes considered. Dispersion within the box is not included. In the present work attempt has been made to estimate concentration of benzene in microenvironment accounting for dispersion. The estimated concentrations are compared to observed concentration. A fairly good comparison is obtained.
